Ibrahim Shkupolli Shootings Kills 6 Sello Shopping Centre, Leppävaara, Espoo, Finland

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Another mass shooting in Finland. I don’t enjoy reporting these but the English version of Helsinki Sanomat is behind with the news and I figured that the world should know sooner. The update is that the killer gunman Ibrahim Shkupolli is not being hunted by police because has been found dead. It seems he shot himself as did the shooters in the earlier gun rampages in Finland. Ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, Shkupolli had previous gun convictions and a court injunction against entering the Sello shopping center. All victims on Sello were Prisma employees although they were shot on different floors which suggest that he hunted them. Reports suggesting that Shkupolli has a girlfriend whose fate is unknown are confused. The UK Daily Mail seems to talk abou the ex-wife and ex-girlfriend as the same person.

The other two massacres have been reported in this blog:
Another School Shooting Kauhajoki and Jokela High School Massacre, Tuusula, Finland.

Ibrahim Shkupolli shot and killed 4 Prisma supermarket workers in Sello shopping mall in the Leppävaara district of Espoo. His wife was found dead in a private apartment and Ibrahim Shkupolli was later found dead in his own apartment in what seems to be suicide.

What to do? Clearly all the political promises of changes in the gun law has not stopped this massacre, and have the gun law changes been changed as promised even? The gun situation and ways to protect people should be monitored and some assurance that proposed plans implemented.

Of course, there is no sure-fire way to stop people freaking out and getting destructive. Even if every dangerous person was monitored but access to weapons can be limited. Weapons could be tagged with a radio signal. People could learn express or vent their emotions in less destructive, more constructive ways.

I am thinking aloud and quickly and not establishing a comprehensive solution.

What should I do? Today I was to hold a meditation for New Year’s Eve and look forward to how we want 2010 to be. I will continue to give my online class tonight at midnight because the happiness of others depends on it. This I know for fact.

If you want to join you can. It is free and open to all. It is a live online event and we still have some listening spaces. I am sure it will cheer you up.

You should book soon so you can test your PC with the on-going free recording before the live event starts. More details at:
